FLUTE TEXTURES BY EMERGENCE AUDIO
KK-ACCESS REVIEW
Emergence Audio continue to assimulate popular instruments into their unique Infinite Kontakt Engine, this time the Flute is the latest to join their constantly expanding portfolio of sonic flavours.
As with other instruments in the series, the concept is always to avoid offering the end user a typically static or purely articulation based sample library of perfectly realistic flute sounds.
Instead the engine processes the core organic ingredients to create something entirely new, whilst still managing to retain the warmth, texture, expression, and rich timbres of the original in diverse, and flexible ways.
TECH SPECS
Flute Textures runs within Kontakt 7.7.3 and above, or the equivalent free Kontakt Player, it is compatible with all versions of Komplete Kontrol which will act as your host for Kontakt.
The library requires 5.3GB of disk space for installation, and uses the NCW format for the 24bit 48kHz samples.
There is a single master Kontakt NKI preset, which feeds a further 164 Kontakt NKSN snapshot presets divided between 7 categories.
In true Emergence Audio style, and in common with all other releases, they have also provided customers with an additional 15 Kontakt NKM multi files, which have been carefully put together to offer a wide palette of sound examples.
DOWNLOAD & INSTALLATION
Flute Textures is simple to install directly through Native Access, after pasting in and registering the provided post purchase serial number.
Once completed, running an instance of Komplete Kontrol will add Flute Textures to your browser, all ready for you to use.

ACCESSIBILITY
The NKS mapping template for Flute Textures remains the same as other recent releases, which importantly gives us assurance that the library is fully accessible with all major controls being on hand.
FLUTE-TASTIC!
the preset categories within Flute Textures will already be familiar to owners of previous releases.
Alternates, Correlated, Experiments, Infinite Drones, Infinite Pads, Pulses, & Swells, provide the familiar territory for which the engine capably delivers.
SOUND SOURCES
One of the major benefits of the Emergence Audio NKS mapping template, is access to the sound sources that provide the sample content for the two layers offered by the library.
These are directly selectable from the layers page, which also offers Volume, Pan, & tuning functionality.
There are 28 sound source samples per layer, and these can if you prefer be thought of as articulations in as much as they are samples of common Flute playing techniques such as Flutters, Vibratos, Staccato, Pulses, Grace notes, Tonguing, & Keys.
All of the articulations have been recorded in high quality, and were performed by renowned Flutist Veronika Vitazkova.
I was pleased to see the inclusion of the Key sample sounds (these are recordings of the physical playing buttons found on the Flute), as they can be used to provide a percussive element wen creating your own sounds, and indeed some of the factory content presets do make good use of them.
RANDOM GENERATIONS
My single favourite control in any of the emergence Audio libraries still has to be the randomise control. When you are all out of ideas, or just feeling plain lazy, giving this knob a quick twist will provide some instant inspiration, which you can either continue to rinse & repeat until you reach your sound design Valhalla, or further carry on refining the results using other controls until you find something that suits your needs.
FLUTE TEXTURE SOUNDS
As with all of the Emergence Audio libraries, Flute Textures brings with it a unique perspective on the instrument itself, this in combination with the available FX allows you to dial up some magical textures that can work well for all manner of projects.
You can opt for gloomy dystopian drones, sparkling trills, or pretty much everything inbetween, and with further application of the included Tape and Lo-Fi effects you are able to create some great sounding retro Mellotron style timbres for that special vintage vibe.
For those Soundscapers out there, the constant evolvement of the sound will always help to keep things animated and moving, making things interesting to the ear, this is ideal for the ambient genre, with rich flutey washes abound, it’s also useful as an underscore mechanism for emotive cues within film or other media.
Make sure to checkout the walkthrough video and demo tracks, and also the explanation of the Infinite Motion Engine is a must watch.
Finally, if you have not already grabbed your free copy of the Evolution Collection do so, it’s a fantastic way of experiencing the Emergence Audio instrument sounds with no cost involved, and it offers NKS support with Kontakt Player compatability, as well as an opportunity to add a further 20% off of the intro price.
CONCLUSION
Flute Textures is yet another welcome addition to Emergence Audio’s expanding universe of unique libraries, it joins their existing and well respected collection that covers Strings, Woodwinds, Voices and more, to add a new flavour to any compositional palette.
When it comes to accessibility, the already established NKS template provides blind & visually impaired users with a reliable assurance that their products will be accessible directly from currently supported Komplete Kontrol & Maschine hardware.
Flute Textures from Emergence audio is available directly from their website for the introductory price of $85.00 (regular price will be $118.00)
