InSession Audio have released a number of great libraries over the years, many will be familiar with their free Fruitshake percussion library, the baby sibling of Shimmer, Shake, Strike.
Some of their products, although innovative in design, and sounding great, have been challenging to translate to NKS in order to take full advantage of their creative possibilities.
For sometime, I have had a good communication line going with Kyle, the owner/developer, and for Deep Pool, his newest release, he has pulled something of a rabbit out of the hat with regard to his approach to the NKS scripting.
Deep Pool is a down tempo drum and percussion loop based library, which includes an extensive collection of material, all of the content can be used as full, low, or high mix components simultaneously or separately to suit your needs.
The Innovative approach in terms of the NKS scripting, is that he has used a last touched key technique which allows for detailed control of individual loops and sounds.
Spread over the first four initial pages of NKS mappings, the user can select any of the loops mapped across the keyboard, and then edit them independently of one another.
Ostensivly, this enables what would otherwise be a huge number of pages to be dramatically reduced to these first four pages, before a further 13 pages of additional global pages are introduced, bringing the total page count to 17.
Kyle has put a considerable amount of thought and planning into making Deep Pool accessible, and has even created a special talkthrough descriptive guide for visually impaired users to explain the concepts.
I will be writing a review in due course, however in the meantime, those interested can take a look at his Deep Pool overview page for visually impaired users here:
